Miso soup is a traditional Japanese dish that warms you up and energizes. Light, healthy, and aromatic, it is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The base of the soup is miso paste and dashi broth, which create a rich umami flavor. Complemented by tender tofu, wakame seaweed, and fresh green onions, this soup is a great choice for anyone who loves Asian cuisine or seeks healthy eating.
If you don’t know how to eat miso soup, traditionally it is sipped directly from the bowl, and the solid ingredients are eaten with chopsticks — without a spoon, with pleasure and respect for Japanese traditions.
🍜 Miso Soup (Classic Recipe)
Ingredients:
- Miso paste (white or red) — 2–3 tbsp
- Water or dashi (Japanese broth) — 1 liter
- Tofu (soft or silken) — 150 g
- Wakame seaweed (dried) — 1–2 tsp
- Green onions — 2–3 stalks
✅ Preparation:
- Prepare the broth: bring water or dashi broth to a boil in a pot.
- Add seaweed: put dried wakame seaweed into the broth and cook for 2–3 minutes until it swells.
- Tofu: cut tofu into small cubes and gently add to the soup.
- Miso paste: remove the pot from heat, dilute the miso paste in a separate bowl with a small amount of hot broth, then return the mixture to the pot. Do not boil the soup after adding miso to preserve flavor and nutrients.
- Serving: sprinkle with finely chopped green onions and serve hot.
